The Austin Friar's Monastery is situated in the middle of the Citadel of Rye, 5 mins from the station, on a cobbled hill leading onto the High St; just around the corner from the George Hotel.
The Monastery consists of a chapel with a combination of 14th century monastic and brutal industrialist architecture. In addition to the two main floors of the chapel are various ancillary spaces including an entrance hall, study, dining room and bedroom - more information can be found here.
A Georgian cottage is attached to the monastery on the West side which is also potentially available for shoots or accommodation. An annex added in 1927 on the East side of the building provides a kitchen for shoots or events and leads onto a walled courtyard garden. All of these spaces are available to hire for events and film/photographic shoots and are decorated by Alex Macarthur Interiors whose carefully curated collection of unique pieces is available for prop use at no extra charge.
