The Monastery in Rye is both a discrete and flamboyant space for private events and celebrations. The building offers a fascinating variety of contrasting spaces in which to host your special events; from intimate beamed dining spaces for as little as 6 guests, to a vast industrial ground floor with rivetted rusty beams, imposing factory style windows and doors leading out to a gravelled Italian style garden with a large corten steel dining table which comfortably sits 10.

The lofty 1st floor is the most impressive space of all with a floor to apex height of  8.7 meters, 14th century tracery windows spanning the south wall and factory style windows on the north; perfect for a grand banquet. This feels like the most ecclesiastical space in the building but it is styled like a grand Italian palazzo drawing-room and leads to the most glamorous twin bathrooms, all with old school fittings and timeless cerarra marble trough sinks designed by Alex Macarthur Interiors. A galleried mezzanine above provides further space with a close up view of the incredible beamed roof space and a bird’s eye view over the grand room below.

 

In addition there are several annexes and a courtyard garden to be explored which add to the experience of visiting the monastery.
